Sustaining the Mission
The mission we share happens because somebody in our office answers a phone call from a chaplain or social worker, and goes to our store room to gather supplies or cuts a check to a landlord or utility or picks up food certificates or creatively finds what is needed to meet the urgent needs of a patient or family. Then somebody gets in a car and drives to the patient’s home for a delivery and a visit. During that visit more needs may be identified and the cycle begins again. At this point we pay one part-time staff person. the rest is done by volunteers, but our phone, our rent, our insurance, our food certificates, our eviction prevention or utility support, our internet connection, our mailings, and even this newsletter all cost money.
The matching grant addressed our immediate cash flow needs and we are grateful to all who participated and/or called with offers of other support. But we are not out of the woods. Now we need to build sustaining, predictable cash flow. We need Sustaining Angels. It’s pretty simple. Click here and can choose your level and frequency of support. Ideally you find an amount that is comfortable for you on a monthly basis. If you are not comfortable with web based giving, let us know that you’ll be sending a check.
What it would do for our work if 500 groups or individuals decided to participate with $10 a month! Or maybe there are 250 people who could give $20 a month. There might even be 100 people who could give $50 a month, or 50 people who could give $100. You can see how it would add up to rent paid, phone on, mileage reimbursed, volunteers coordinated, insurance paid, website and newsletter available to give you access to stories like Sandra's, thank you letters printed and mailed and so on. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Sustaining Angel and becoming an active member of the community that sustains the work of Angel Interfaith Network.
